UV-50PRO 50W Connected Mobile | APRS, GPS, Bluetooth, Satellite Tools

Built for licensed amateur operators, UV-50PRO delivers 50W VHF/UHF power with Bluetooth app programming, GPS/APRS tracking, AI Noise Reduction, and satellite tools + KISS TNC. Firmware updates keep features evolving, while the mobile-ready mic UI makes control fast in vehicles or base setups.

Bluetooth Audio Your Way

Bring Your Own Bluetooth HFP Audio Devices

Pair with common Bluetooth HFP devices like vehicle audio and compatible headsets for clear listening and hands-free use. Transmit using VOX (voice-activated) or the BS-PTT option for quick callouts while staying focused on driving, riding, or field work.

Made for the UV-50PRO: BS-22/BS-50 + BS-PTT

Upgrade with UV-50PRO accessories designed to seamlessly work together: BS-22 or BS-50 Bluetooth speaker mics deliver clear, convenient audio while the radio stays clipped and secure. Use the BS-PTT for PTT control with your own bluetooth devices. Ideal for vehicles, job sites, and team coordination

Smart Tools That Improve Real-World Comms

GPS + APRS Tracking for Smarter Coordination

GPS/APRS helps convoys, events, and field teams share position and coordinate faster while reducing “where are you?” traffic. Features include Mic-Esmart beaconing, improved ACK handling, destination settings, GPWPL upload, and custom location override for fixed sites or no-GPS use.

AI Noise Reduction for Clearer Audio

AI Noise Reduction improves both TX and RX by reducing wind, engine rumble, and background noise. In vehicles and busy environments, voices stay more intelligible so messages get through with fewer repeats and less fatigue.

Bluetooth App Programming - Step by Step

Pair in the App

Open the BTECH UV Programmer app, select UV-50PRO, and pair via Bluetooth. Once connected, you can manage settings and channels from your phone.

Edit Channels/Zones

Quickly add or update channels, tones, offsets, and zones in the app, faster than keypad entry and easier to repeat across multiple installs.

Import/Export via CSV

Use CSV to batch edit and clone programming for fleets, events, or club plans. Save templates and re-load them anytime.

Sync + Update Firmware

Sync changes back to the radio in seconds. When updates are available, apply them through the app to keep your UV-50PRO improving over time

Everything for a Clean Mobile Install

Mobile Mounting Kit

Includes bracket and hardware for a secure, tidy install in vehicles or base setups. Clean routing, solid mounting, ready to run.

Mic First Control

Color mic display keeps key info visible for fast changes while driving. Less menu time, more focus, easier day to day operation.

Satellite, NOAA, and FM

App satellite tracking helps plan passes and operate smoother. NOAA weather alerts keep you ready, and FM broadcast adds music and news for downtime.

Who It’s For

For licensed amateurs who want a 50W dual band mobile with true bluetooth, AI enhanced crystal clear audio, and modern features for road and base use.

  1. 5 out of 5

    John L Wilkerson (KD8DVR)

I got this radio; because I needed something more powerful and with the new AI Noise Reduction technology.

This is an Amateur (ham) radio and requires an amateur radio license to transmit. Frequency coverage is only on the 2 meter and 70 CM amateur bands. It is illegal to use this radio on GMRS! BTECH sells a similar radio for GMRS.

This radio is heavy for its size. It looks pretty durable. Good sized heat sink, as well as a fan.

Features include APRS, GPS, Satellite tracking as well as a KISS TNC for packet radio that connects to your computer via bluetooth.

Transmit audio is very good. With the AI signal processing turned on, it’s phenomenal. Receive audio is very good. With the AI processing turned on, it’s very impressive. Any static at all on a received signal goes away totally. A 90% noise signal turns into a full quieting signal! Now, it’s not advisable to use the AI with repeaters or the Bluetooth microphone connected.

The radio accommodates the BS-22 bluetooth speaker microphone.

Power output was measured into a dummy load. I got 54 watts output on 2 meters and 48 watts on UHF. Nice.

The radio is a bit pricey; but with all the features, it’s worth it in my opinion.

    The cons:

AI noise reduction actually filters out repeaters. Unusable.
The microphone cord is much too short if you want to mount the radio under your seat in a mobile configuration.

All in all, a very impressive radio.

I retract my earlier statement about the AI noise reduction not working on repeaters. It works fine. It just removed everything except the human voice! Impressive!

I agree with all KD8DVR says in his review. One item of disappointment is the lack, or minimal at best, is documentation for this radio. It needs more information for us beginners. I was looking at an operators manual for a Yaesu FTM 510DR, very thorough and easy to understand all functions of the radio.
The UV50 Pro doesn’t even have an icon layout in the manual.
It’s a good radio, if there is an updated manual for this radio, I’d like to see it.

Just got this radio yesterday, so don’t have a complete usage feel just yet, but I love the phone app to control the radio. Would prefer a volume knob on the radio, rather than trying to find the right buttons to press on the mic to change volume settings, but that’s a minor quibble. My biggest issue (at the moment) is that the manual claims it has voice prompts, but there aren’t any. I’m hoping this is my firmware version, (0.8.9) since the latest version seems to be 0.9.2 which I have yet to figure out how to install. Searches seem to indicate it can be done via the phone app, but I’m not seeing how.
Other than those issues, I really like the radio, and may wind up buying another one for use in the vehicle.
Programming via the phone is relatively simple, though I have yet to figure out how to switch between banks of channels (want 2 meter and 70 cm channels in separate groups). I can switch them via the app, but no idea how to do this on the radio itself.
I’m sure most of these issues will get solved as I get more familiar with the radio, so I’m not too concerned about any issues listed here except the voice prompts, since I’m a blind ham, and really find the voice prompts extremely useful when navigating saved channels on my various hts. (I have 16, 8 of which are baofengs), and the manual for the uv-50 Pro claims it should have them too.
