Why choose the GMRS-RPT50?
Build a dependable GMRS station with the repeater, duplexer, power supply and automatic identification together in one chassis. The GMRS-RPT50 delivers up to 50W and covers all eight GMRS repeater pairs.
Configure and adjust the repeater directly from the front panel—no CPS required. Make changes at the installation without bringing a computer. For a family, neighborhood or rural property, that means fewer separate components to mount and connect, practical on-site control, and a U.S.-based BTECH team behind your station.
Considering BTECH or other repeaters?
What you get with BTECH
- Full front-panel configuration. Adjust the repeater’s operating settings and CW Auto ID at the radio. No CPS, laptop or programming cable required for configuration.
- The duplexer is built in. One chassis and one common antenna connection, without a separate duplexer enclosure or external jumpers between the two.
- 50W and continuous-duty design. Up to 50W output with a published 100% maximum work cycle for permanent installations.
- Core station hardware included. AC power supply, DC backup connection, keypad microphone, power cables and rack brackets.
- Support after the sale. U.S.-based product support, exact-model manuals, firmware updates and repair options.
Make other repeaters earn the comparison
- Can you configure it without a computer? Front-panel channel selection is not full programming. Check whether operating settings and identification still require PC software.
- Is the duplexer inside the radio? An included external duplexer still needs its own space and RF connections. An optional one adds another purchase.
- What does its power rating mean? Compare both maximum output and the published duty cycle, cooling and installation requirements.
- What is missing from the price? Check the power supply, backup-power provision, microphone, cables and rack hardware before comparing the total station cost.
- Who helps after installation? Look for accessible product support, current documentation, updates and a clear repair path.
Choose BTECH for an integrated station you can configure where it is installed. Features and included hardware vary by repeater; compare the complete setup.
Built for a station you can manage yourself
Set up and identify from the front panel
Configure and adjust the repeater from the front panel—no CPS required. Select the repeater pair and tones, set the CW callsign, interval and audio level, and protect the controls with a passcode. The 3.5-inch color display keeps station settings visible. Leave the laptop behind when you need to change settings at the site.
Operate locally with the included microphone
Use the keypad microphone to transmit from the repeater site on the selected repeater pair. Release PTT to listen for replies. This is local operation on that pair, not a separate 22-channel simplex base radio.
Continuous-duty design, flexible power
A published 100% maximum work cycle, AC operation with 13.8V DC failover, and included 19-inch rack brackets support permanent installations. Provide proper ventilation, power and RF installation.
Units shipping from 2026 include a 100W-capable duplexer. That is duplexer power handling; repeater output remains up to 50W.
Plan the complete station
Included with your repeater
- GMRS-RPT50 with internal duplexer and CW Auto ID
- Keypad hand microphone
- AC power cord and 13.8V DC cable
- USB-A programming cable
- 19-inch rack brackets and mounting hardware
Add your antenna system
A suitable GMRS antenna, quality 50-ohm coax, mounting and grounding are required and sold separately. With the internal duplexer, connect the antenna to the common TX/RX N-type port.
Coverage depends on antenna height, terrain, feed-line loss, interference and the radios using the repeater. Choose and prepare the site before expecting a particular range.

Is it equipped with a duplexer? If so then it’s going to be a winner

Seems to work pretty good so far.

Been operating for about 1.5 months now and it’s been working great. Absolutely nothing that, at my level, can tell would be wrong with it.
Still waiting on Network Compatibility firmware update. Any news on that BTECH? When can we expect to be able to use the network jack?

This repeater is surprisingly a good performer. I received one with a bad duplexer which Btech was prompt to send a replacement. It was an easy install with some basic skills. I have setup many repeater systems and tuned duplexer’s for them. This unit was incredibly easy to setup and install. Receive sensitivity is very good for a desktop repeater. Output power is good as well. After testing this for months in a low RF environment I am currently using this at a commercial site and it is performing flawlessly. Knobs and buttons have a cheap loose / poor feel but they function as they should. The CW id is very slow and should be set to the highest speed. Overall I think this is a great part 95 repeater for the average radio enthusiast it is easy to setup and deploy without thousands of dollars in gear to get a repeater on the air. My biggest complaint at this point is the lack of DTMF remote control and having to carry a mic with me to enter the security code.

Radio seems to be working fine so far.. The manual lacks so much information and there is very little information or videos with details.

I received my RPT-50 repeater in September ’24. I hooked it up to the antenna system that I had been previously running a lower power repeater from. Hooked up pretty seamlessly and I was able to get it working quickly. I wanted to use digital tones but one of the 1st things the repeater instructions stated was you needed to do update V1.003R. Unfortunately the update program would only run on a Win10 computer and the best I had was Win7. So for the time being I operated with an analog tone which worked fine.
By Sept 10 I had a Win10 computer and updated the system and it took. I tried the DCS tone and realized I needed to reboot the repeater before I could use the digital tones. After the reboot the DCS tones were working but I had a squelch hash noise after the repeater unkeyed. It was annoying enough to me that I returned to the analog tones. The techs suggested that it might be my HT and not the repeater. I have not tried digital tones since.
On Sept 15 on their own BTech sent me a new Duplexer and it arrived on the 21st and I installed it easily and got it back in operation. The new duplexer was able to operate at a higher voltage and it had a substantially better reception than the original. I was still getting about 42 watts out of the repeater that faded and held at about 38 watts. Up to this point the tech service was excellent and they put up with my many questions. After I mentioned the fading issue they stopped responding to me.
The repeater is OK and a good deal for the price and how easy it is to setup. I haven’t been able to get the morse code setup operating the way I thought I could with a 15 minute report while busy and quiet while the repeater is unused. So I’ve kept it off. I’ve been using analog tones and it’s worked just fine. I was hoping for another update beyond 1.003R to fix the reboot issue with digital tones and an update for the morse code response.

Received my rpt50 quick and very well packaged. Setup was very easy and had it up and running in about 15 minutes. So far im getting close to 40 miles distance. I have the antenna mounted on a fire station tower about 70 feet in the air. We will use this for emergency communications for our community. Great product Btech and I highly recommend to anyone that is in the market for a quality, easy setup repeater.
