The UV-25X2 is a reliable and powerful mobile two-way radio with new functionality improvements. The second generation release of the UV-25X2 has seen several performance improvements and tweaks, making it an excellent choice for communication needs.
RJ45 Audio Input & Output
The UV-25X2 has new menus and operations that allow audio I/O from its RJ45 microphone port. This allows the UV-25X2 to be installed for custom applications, where users want more control on where the speaker and mic audio is routed to.
VOX Handsfree Support
The UV-25X2 (Second Generation) includes VOX support. VOX allows for handsfree use with your favorite audio accessories or the included handheld microphone.

The radio includes special menus to allow audio to be routed both through the UV-25X2 and K1 accessory, only through the radio, or only through the K1 audio accessory.
Uniquely customize your UV-25X2
The X-Series Mobiles use our Multi-Color LCD display screen. You can adjust the complete display colors to be exactly as you want it. Beyond the display, you can fully customize your channels to display their alpha-numeric names or frequency settings.
There are 128 programmable memory channels. You can add or remove channels from scanning list. You can easily program from a PC or right on the radio itself.
Pair the UV-25X2 with the Nagoya UT-72 Magnetic Mount Antenna for easy installation with the UHF antenna connectors.
Group Tones supported
The UV-25X2 supports the most common Analog Tones. It supports CTCSS, DCS, 2Tone, 5Tone, and DTMF calling methods. Set-up your calling methods to call by group tones. Tone calling (private line) is required by most repeater applications and the UV-25X2 supports the latest standards.
The UV-25X2 can even send DTMF tones. This allows for sending ANI (Caller ID) or remote commands that require DTMF tones; or it can receive incoming DTMF tones to allow for remote stun or kill commands
Quad Watch and Display Sync
The UV-25X2 operates as multiple radios in one, with either VHF or UHF as the ‘Main’ band, while simultaneously watching up to 3 other frequencies or channels; and, if you like, you can configure your UV-25X2 for simultaneous VHF-VHF or UHF-UHF operation, too!
Dual Sync Display:
With Dual Sync Display, you can synchronize channel lines to one or two channels. This allows you to sync display ‘lines’ to a single channel allowing the user to have both frequency and channel name data displayed simultaneously.

We have 2 of these. Mine is the older 2501, my wife has this 25X2. My 2501 is quite old and works wonderfully, still. The 25X2 likewise has performed flawlessly, the signal reports we get have always been very good with comments like “that sounds as good as any radio I have heard” – and it always tickles me to let them know it is a $130 BaoFeng Tech. Yes, I do have Kenwoods and Yaesus but the BTechs are the ones that we use as mobiles and will continue to use, proudly. I want another to use as a dual band base unit for the house.

I was looking for a radio for my company truck, I wanted something somewhat portable, I purchased the 25×2 and a cup holder mount (from Amazon) and it has worked out great. I really didn’t want to permanently mount a radio in the company truck and this was a great solution, signal reports have been great and programming is easy. I will be buying a second one soon.

So far this has been a really impressive radio. I put mine in my UTV where space is a scarce. Because the radio is only a little bigger than a cheeseburger, it fits in where other guys are struggling to find where to mount their bigger units. There’s no proprietary nonsense: the unit is easy to program with CHIRP (took me about 2 minutes to fully program mine), and the icing on the cake is that it has a TRRS headset port on the back. I bought a 3.5mm TRRS pigtail from Amazon and plumbed it in to my UTV’s intercom system with PTT buttons: and now it works just like an airplane. Durability will be tested on the warmer and dustier rides in the summer. Other than that, very impressed.

I wanted an inexpensive radio for my Jeep Wrangler with a soft top. I have run the radio with the mag mount antenna and powered by the cigarette lighter. All reports have been outstanding regarding sound quality and I have no problems reaching the local repeaters. I now plan on making the power connection permanent and getting a better antenna. Very pleased.

Great radio for base or mobile. I purchased mine via Amazon almost 2 years ago and it has been working flawlessly as a base station! I usually operate on low power and am able to hit local repeaters with full quieting. Looking at ordering a second for my trailer to enjoy while camping.
PS: Programming is a breeze with chirp and with a bit of effort it’s easy to program it via the radio.

Outstanding radio for the cost. The only real gripe is that if you have it set up to monitor A thru D, you cannot see the repeaters offset frequency, but, that’s all. I was at a state park recently and tried hitting a repeater 15 miles away on mostly flat terrain. I had the radio hooked up to a 20ah lifepo battery. The magnet mount antenna was attached to the steel roof of the picnic shelter. It easy called up the repeater at the 10 watt setting. I chatted with two other hams on that repeater. Both commented on how undisturbed the transmission was. Both said it was like talking face to face. I would say that is great for this little radio. I also attempted to access a repeater in a town 30 miles away and that yielded positive results. I didn’t speak to anyone however, I don’t think anyone was monitoring the repeater at the time.

Pretty-much a no brainer for me. It’s a small, but sturdy and surprisingly heavy unit. I have the first generation and several years of use now. The only problem I’ve had is from leaving it out in the sun. The radio still works correctly, but the display has some vertical lines that I believe are my fault.
I still use it every day and plan to purchase a couple more so I don’t have to relocate it when I travel. With a good beam antenna I can connect to Loma Prieta peak 77 miles away on low power for the Packet nets here in California SF Bay area.

Not bad for what it is. It survived an indirect lightning strike within 1/8 mile and is still going. I usually keep it on low power and am full quieting into our local repeaters up to 50 miles out in rolling terrain with a 1/4 wave whip. Usage has been primarily short rag chews, health and wellness net traffic and typical net check-ins. Only con is it does get pretty warm even on low power, and some UHF intermod.
