This cable is a huge improvement over the original APRS-K1 cable in that it can key the radio without relying on the radio’s VOX. This switching is much faster, and allows for reliable use in digital modes. It’s operation is comparable to a Mobile Digirig.
One recommendation for future iterations is to include a ferrite bead. I’ve encountered cases where the RF from the radio is being picked up as input, causing the radio to keep transmitting. Installing a ferrite bead appears to solve this problem (or moving the radio away from the cable line).

I’m posting this here for a couple of reasons:
1. The support team quickly sent me a replacement for free when I reported that the unit “couldn’t hear” reliably. I cannot complain about the customer service.
2. The actual solution seems to be “shielding”. Maybe a future release will easily fix the problem.
My findings:
:>After repeated testing and frustration with this product I was ready to give up. Sometimes it would work…and other times it would not.
For me, the solution was really simple…I put the dongle and ferrite bead section of the cable into a metal “cookie” container with the two CABLE ends sticking out.

:>With the RF interference mostly eliminated, the Dongle works great now. So for ~ $41.00 you can connect your radio to either your cell phone, or your computer. PTT works with squelch “closed” and a SQL setting of 1. No VOX necessary.
So far I have used it with WoAD on my cell phone to send/receive Winlink messages while mobile.
APRS, and 1200 baud (old-school packet) and Winlink Express while connected to my computer at home. I did need to purchase a USB Male to USB-C Female adapter to connect the cable to my computer.
