Today I received five Nagoya NMO-HDG antennas I am planning to use for some GMRS repeaters.
I tested all five Nagoya NMO-HDG antennas on my NanoVNA. I wanted to check and verify the SWR was correct for GMRS use. Here are my findings :
– Three of the five antennas checked had good SWR readings at GMRS frequencies 1:1.8 up to 1:2.1
– Two of the five antennas had really bad SWR readings at GMRS frequencies 1:14 and the other was 1:17 ( off enough to create serious problems with my Baofeng radios )
Question , Can these antennas be taken apart ? I am guessing they are a simple J-Pole antenna inside of the PVC pipe. If so , I would like to see and possibly fix the issue verses sending them back.
