The BF-F8+ has been the first UV-5R radio to get a full internal upgrade.

Like the UV-82 it has an expanded frequency range. It has a VFO/MR button found on the UV-5R series not found on the UV-82 series.

The BF-F8+ is the 2nd Generation UV-5R series. The BF-F8+ uses the same updated internal components as the GT-3 but also has full backward compatibility with the UV-5R batteries and accessories

It outperforms the first generation UV-5R chipset (used in UV-5R series) and is a great replacement to the UV-5R series.

Highlights and Photos

What is different from the 1st Gen UV-5r Series

The frequency range is expanded from 400-480Mhz to 400-520Mhz.

The second generation UV-5Rs have an inverted display instead of the tri-color display

The PCB (Printed Circuit Board) has been updated with newer components:

Radio Frequency IC
Power Amplifier IC
Frequency Modulated Receiver Chip
and LED Flashlight

The BF-F8+ utilizes the latest RDA1846S RF IC, by doing so the BF-F8+ excels with its enhanced anti-interference capabilities. The BF-F8+ provides new noise-reduction features to block out noises caused by signal intensity changes along with tail tone elimination when transmitting or receiving signals between 50Hz with 55Hz. The BF-F8+ has several advantages over its predecessor the UV-5R, while maintaining the same case to allow for full accessory compatibility.

What is the Difference between the other 2nd gen UV-5rs : Like the GT-3, A52, BT-580T

There is no difference between all the second generation UV-5Rs. Besides the cosmetics they all use the second generation UV-5R chipsets.

We prefer the BF-F8+ because it is backward compatible with all the UV-5R batteries and accessories - giving it the access to the most add-ons.
