GMRS fan –
This QHM22D Dual PTT Speaker Mic is an excellent microphone. I’m using it with a BTech GMRS V2 HT. The clip rotates 360º so you can best connect it to your shirt for a good angle facing the mic grille. When using it I have received good audio reports, even though the grill is about 8″ from my mouth.
While driving having the mic near my face is not only convenient, but this makes it compliant with California Dept of Motor Vehicle regulations. In California it is not permissible to hold an HT or a cellphone in your hand while driving. Either violation is potentially a big fine.
But is *is* allowable to hold or use a *microphone.*
And in this case I’m not even holding the mic — it’s clipped to my shirt at the shoulder.
I am not fiddling with or distracted by the mic while using because I can press the dual PTT buttons without looking away from the road. They both are readily found and pressed by feel.
I can now monitor two repeaters with the GMRS V2 and respond to whichever one receives a call because the mic has a PTT for both memories.
