Share channel plans across BTECH PRO radios
BTECH programming guide
Works across the BTECH PRO platform
Use the companion app to move a prepared group across the PRO app family. Direct radio-to-radio copying works across models within the same service family: GMRS-PRO with GMRS-50PRO, or UV-PRO with UV-50PRO.
Choose the right sharing method
App share code: best for sending a reusable channel group to another phone or moving a plan between PRO-family radios. In the BTECH GMRS Programmer or BTECH UV Programmer app, open the saved group, choose Share, and send the generated code. The recipient pastes the code into the current app, reviews the imported settings, and then syncs the group to the correct radio.
Direct Send/Receive Channels: best when two same-family radios are together. Put either same-family radio in Receive Channels, put the other in Send Channels, and keep both powered and close until the transfer completes.
Method 1: share through the BTECH app
-
Open the saved group
In BTECH GMRS Programmer for GMRS-PRO/GMRS-50PRO or BTECH UV Programmer for UV-PRO/UV-50PRO, open Group Management and select the channel group you want to share.
-
Create the share code
Choose Share. Copy the generated string exactly and send it through a trusted channel. The code represents radio settings, so do not post private or sensitive operational plans publicly.
-
Import on the recipient’s phone
The recipient opens the correct BTECH app, pastes the share code, optionally gives the group a clear name, and saves it. Use the same current app version where practical.
-
Review before syncing
Inspect every channel and correct settings that do not apply to the destination radio, license, location, or intended service. Then connect the destination radio and upload the verified group.
Method 2: copy directly within a radio family
-
Use radios from the same family
Use GMRS-PRO with GMRS-50PRO in either direction, or UV-PRO with UV-50PRO in either direction. Same-model pairs also work. Do not use direct Send/Receive Channels to move a plan between the GMRS and UV families.
-
Prepare the receiver first
On the radio that should receive the plan, open the channel-copy or sync screen and choose Receive Channels or Receive Channel, as shown by that model’s firmware.
-
Start the source radio
On the same-family radio holding the desired group, open the same feature and choose Send Channels or Send Channel. On GMRS-50PRO or UV-50PRO, use the control microphone.
-
Wait, then verify
Do not press PTT, change screens, or remove power during copying. When every receiver reports completion, open the new group and verify its settings before transmitting.

The numbered-key diagram and transfer screens below are the original BTECH visual references for the handheld workflow. Firmware labels can vary slightly, so follow the equivalent Sync Settings, Send Channels, and Receive Channels choices shown by your radio.

If sharing does not work
| Symptom | Try this |
|---|---|
| Share code will not import | Update both phones to the current correct BTECH app, copy the complete code again, and confirm the recipient is importing a group rather than a CSV file. |
| Imported group will not sync | Confirm the selected destination model, reconnect Bluetooth through the app, and correct fields that the destination radio does not support. |
| Direct receiver never starts | Confirm both radios are in the same GMRS or UV family, enter Receive Channels before starting Send Channels, and move the radios closer in a low-interference area. |
| Direct transfer stops | Restore stable power, restart the receiver, and retry without using PTT or changing screens. |
| Channels appear but do not work | Verify frequency, tones, offset, bandwidth, power, scan state, and service restrictions individually. |

Channel-sharing questions
Can I copy directly between a handheld and a 50PRO mobile?
Yes, within the same service family. GMRS-PRO and GMRS-50PRO can exchange channels in either direction; UV-PRO and UV-50PRO can exchange channels in either direction.
Can I directly copy between a GMRS radio and a UV radio?
No direct cross-family transfer is promised. Use the correct BTECH app workflow and review every channel against the destination radio and service.
Does a share code change the source radio?
No. It creates a portable copy of the saved app group. The recipient decides whether and when to sync it to a radio.
Why must I review an imported plan?
PRO radios span different services and capabilities. A valid receive or transmit setting on one model may be restricted, unsupported, or inappropriate on another.
