Friday, September 2, 2022
Our long awaited, next generation digital handheld has finally arrived… BTECH is excited to announce the release of the new BTECH DMR-6X2 PRO, a premium dual band two-way radio that is packed to the brim with features and is our most versatile and powerful handheld radio we have ever released. The DMR-6X2 PRO is designed to be fully customized to meet the needs of both commercial and amateur users. Starting with simple customizations, the user can customize five programmable side keys, they can alter their choice of 4 programmable power levels (7/4/2.5/1W), and either set the display as a single or dual channel monitor. You will not only find all the features needed to support DMR but the DMR-6X2 PRO also still supports most analog standards such as 5TONE, 2TONE, DTMF, CTCSS, and DCS. The DMR-6X2 PRO has a 1.77-inch color TFT screen that makes navigating through 4,000 Memory Channels, 250 Zones, 10,000 DMR Talk Groups, and 500,000 Digital Contacts easier than ever.
Bluetooth
The DMR-6X2 PRO has Bluetooth capabilities that allow the user to connect to their favorite audio device (headset, speaker, etc.) to make the user experience easy and efficient. Various operational combinations with Bluetooth devices can be set via software or on the front panel. Including with the radio kit is a Bluetooth PTT switch.
GPS and APRS
GPS is built in to the DMR-6X2 PRO, and the radio can both send and receive analog and digital APRS packets. Editing APRS is simple, because it can be done right on the radio menu without having to hassle with programming software. Analog and Digital SMS sending and receiving is also supported. The DMR-6X2 PRO also supports auto and manual GPS based roaming with analog and digital channels.
Customize Your Screen
An exclusive feature on the DMR-6X2 PRO is the ability to customize your display screen. The user can adjust the display between ‘vibrant blue’, ‘contrasting black’, or completely custom themes that can change the font color to be any number of complementary colors. Go easy on your eyes at night with the black display mode or use the bright blue to make it easier to see during the daytime. Toggling between the two via the onscreen menu is quick and easy. Custom background images can be uploaded to personalize the radio even further.
Encryption
Full AES256 Encryption is available for commercial use (not for use with USA Amateur Radio Operation). With the ability to copy and paste encryption keys, the use is ensured the correct data is set in each radio via software. AES256 encryption is also compatible with other DMR radios from other brands.
Digital Store & Forward Repeater
The DMR-6X2 PRO has a built-in recording chip which is utilized in the Store and Forward Repeater Mode. The store and forward repeater can be used to extend reach between groups of radios by allowing the DMR-6X2 PRO to capture and retransmit broadcasts on either the same frequency or another frequency of choice.
The Store and Forward repeater can be assigned as a side key function from programming software. It is compatible with: VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF, VHF/UHF, and UHF/VHF.
It has it all, Bluetooth, APRS, GPS, Roaming, AES256, Recording, Priority Scanning and more
It is easy to see how capable the DMR-6X2 PRO is, and how capable any radio user will be with it in their arsenal. Users can rely on the DMR-6X2 PRO for up to 35 hours between charges with the supplied 3100 mAh lithium-ion battery. The DMR-6X2 PRO can also be counted on in rugged situations with an IP54 water and dust resistant rating, giving users the freedom to take their radio high and low.
The only question at this point is, ‘How soon can I get one of these?’

How much is the price of this radio?
The DMR-6X2 PRO introductory pricing is $299
Looking for a mobile UHF/VHF radio. Must be 50 watts. Any suggestions?
The DMR-6X2 PRO is compatible with our Digital Amplifiers which allow you to get 40W output from your DMR-6X2 PRO in your car or from home. The amplifiers allow multiple ways to transmit with the BTECH DMR-6X2 PRO allowing you to transmit using the radio itself, passing the audio through the amplifier, or using a bluetooth accessory of your choice.
Is the frequency range the same as the DMR-6X2?
Yes it is
It you take off the BTech logo and add the ANYTONE sticker, it looks like my AnyTone 878uvII plus. So I wonder if I could use the same programming software as my AnyTone.
In DMR-6X2 PRO in comparison to the 878UVii and greatly improved APRS receiving stability and firmware reliability. The DMR-6X2 PRO has true ad-hoc without any time out, Store and forward repeater option, priority scan and linked multi scan groups, and our programming CPS has easy descriptions written in the US for simpler use. There are also minor convenience changes such as allowing for a daytime/night-time display, analog squelch can be adjusted from a side key press, and linked scanning groups. Oh and of course… we have an earpiece included 😉
The DMR-6X2 PRO CPS can open Anytone codeplugs for easy compatibility
It comes in cheaper than its direct competition. I spent part of the summer harodding a handful of radios to have these features. The original 6×2 would not take them but no one ever claimed it would and it still does exactly what it’s supposed to.
I’m going to have to get one of these to do a more direct comparison to the AnyTone 878UV2+ and the Motorola XPR 3500e.
Is it FCC Part 90 approved for commercial use?
Yes it is
Is this radio FCC type approved for commercial and public safety use?
Yes it is Part 90 certified
What’s the range of your radio?
Is this app programmable like the Gmrs-pro?
No, it uses CPS on Windows to program, or program with the radio directly
I have not yet compared this guy with the anytone unit that Bridgceom supports but my experience with BT is that their only tech support is by email and you cannot talk to anyone directly. Bridgecom seems to have quite a bit more support albeit at a price then Btech will every have.
Does this do both Digital & Analog APRS Tx and Rx for GPS location as well as text messages?
Does it display Rx APRS beacons on a map?
Yes it receives as well as text messages. APRS beacons display the Long/Lat coordinates
Does the DMR-6X2 support P25?
No, it only supports DMR at this time
This radio sounds completely perfect EXCEPT for one thing. IP54! Why oh why would you not make it IP67 or IP68 like some of your competitor’s HT’s. Even if the retail price would be $20 to $30 more. IP67 is the absolute minimum needed for all terrain all weather and water proof usage!
I have owned the 6×2 pro now for a couple weeks. It is the first DMR radio for me so I have no comparisons to other similar radios. I would like to see a CDT scan feature that will show the received CTCSS or DTS tones. In the APRS section I would like the see more filter options. For example filter on range. I don’t need to see stations 100+ miles away. Also a display time setting for the APRS display, the station info just goes away to quickly. For example the received station info goes out before the backlight time expires. There is a lot of information to comprehend in such a short time frame. I thought I noticed a way to disable the volume level pop up but haven’t been able to find it, so it may not exist. I would like to see an option to turn off that pop up window. Other than these issues I am very happy with the performance of this radio. Good Job!
Is the “too loud lowest volume setting” that many uses note in the Anytone 878 corrected or any better in the Btech DMR 6×2 Pro? If so, I would return the Anytone and get the Btech. Or is the volume control implementation the same in both?
Yes we do have a different software driven volume control that improves above the Anytone
With all those improvements over Anytone, I may return that one and keep the Btech. I was looking at Btech in hopes that the lowest volume setting was more usable than the ultra-loud Anytone volume. But the additional Btech features may make that one the keeper.
Can I add a MDC-1200 type Identifier to this unit
Not at this time
Is there a setting where I can adjust the volume of the modem when sending an APRS packet? It’s loud and proud…even at the volume knob’s lowest setting. Wondering if I can even mute it all together? My wife hates me right now.
I also would request that there is separate volume control for sending analog APRS Packets. It is super annoying. Even with volume all the way down the APRS volume wayyyy to loud.
Thank you for this feedback, please send any further firmware feedback to: [email protected]
is the 6x2pro approved for usfs wildland fire fighting
The DMR-6X2 is FCC Part 90 approved for use on commercial (PLMR) frequencies for business, government, and private owners that have a Part 90 operation license
