Introducing the New GMRS-50V2: The Ultimate High-Power GMRS Mobile Radio

Thursday, February 16, 2023

Arlington, South Dakota – BTECH Radios, a leading provider of communication solutions, is excited to announce the launch of the GMRS-50V2, the latest addition to its line of high-performance two-way radios.

The GMRS-50V2 is a versatile and powerful mobile radio that can handle all your communication needs. With a maximum legal power output of 50 watts, the GMRS-50V2 provides strong and clear signals even in areas with weak reception. It’s also compatible with all brands of FRS and GMRS radios, as well as GMRS repeaters, making it a great choice for anyone who wants to communicate with a wide range of radios.

Whether you’re using the GMRS-50V2 for outdoor activities, leisure, or emergency communication, this radio provides the reliability, durability, and functionality you need. With its user-friendly interface, rugged construction, and advanced features, the GMRS-50V2 is a top choice for anyone who demands high-quality mobile communication.

Second Generation Features

The GMRS-50V2 features a redesigned chipset upgrade from the previous generation – GMRS-50X1 – providing the same base functionality plus much more. One of the most significant upgrades is the addition of fully customizable channels, which allows you to customize all 256 channels to your specific needs. Quick add channels make it easy to program the GMRS-50V2 with your preferred channel layout, enabling you to add or remove GMRS, NOAA, and scanner channels quickly.

The GMRS-50V2 also features several important PCB updates that improve audio output and filtering. The redesigned RJ45 jack and radio firmware allow for a whole new range of aftermarket audio accessories to be used. The included K1 adaptor allows the GMRS-50V2 to use speaker mics and accessories previously only compatible with our handheld radios. The new audio filtering provides a clearer and more reliable audio signal, and the improved audio filtering helps to reduce background noise and interference. Additionally, the new GMRS-50V2 offers a constant 50W power on GMRS, ensuring that you always have strong and reliable communication, even in challenging environments.

The GMRS-50V2 also comes equipped with a range of advanced features, including the newly supported voice-activated transmission (VOX). VOX allows for hands-free use with your favorite audio accessories or the included handheld microphone. Quad Watch functionality allows the user to monitor four channels simultaneously, so the GMRS-50V2 operates as multiple radios in one.

For home and base environments, we recommend pairing the GMRS-50V2 with the RPS-30M power supply for optimal performance and convenience.

Visit arrl.org — this particular radio is not for amateur radio. It is for GMRS. The ARRL website can give you all the info you could ever want for getting on the air with ham radio.

The GMRS-50V2 is a fully programmable, feature rich mobile. I received very good reports communicating through our repeater about 30 miles away using a ham radio mag-mount antenna on a baking sheet outside my door. Unfortunately there was a minor issue with the VFO and a replacement is on the way. As always, Btech support was very helpful, going above and beyond, Katy worked the problem with me on a Sunday! I’ve recommended Btech HTs to my community awareness group and they have purchased 30+ GMRS-V2 radios recently.

IS it true you can program in and talk on more that 8 repeater channels now? I can program in 15 or so repeaters and talk on each of them? That is the reason I bought the 50×1 only to learn only 8 could be programed at any given time.

I can’t get NOAA 7 to stay locked out of scan. It shows it is locked out and then when scanning it stops on that channel. All other channels I’ve locked out stay locked out.
