Use Store-and-Forward repeater on BTECH DMR radios
The short version
Store-and-Forward records a call, then plays it back once
The radio records the complete incoming call. When the source releases PTT, the radio keys and replays the stored audio once. Nothing is repeated live.
All three BTECH digital models offer Store-and-Forward. DMR-6X2 and DMR-6X2 PRO can replay DMR on the same band or between bands. DA-7X2 firmware 1.05 adds its own analog FM and DMR workflow on the selected simplex channel. Controls and paths remain model-specific.

All repeater-style use must stay on authorized frequencies and under responsible station control. A feature toggle does not select a lawful channel, provide identification, or prevent a loop.

Enable the supporting record/repeater function
In matching CPS, turn on the model’s required recording and Store-and-Forward controls. On DA-7X2 firmware 1.05, enable Simp Repeater and Record Function; for DMR, leave Simp Repeater Slot at CH Slot. Do not turn on the separate live Repeater Mode for this delayed-replay test.

Assign a deliberate side-key action
Assign Simplex Repeater or the exact model’s Store-and-Forward action to a key you can reach quickly. Avoid replacing an emergency/safety key without recording the change.

Build the exact model’s controlled path
For DMR-6X2 or PRO, test either same-band playback or a deliberate receive-band/replay-band path with matching digital settings. For DA-7X2, use one selected simplex channel: analog FM must match the channel’s receive settings, while DMR must match frequency, color code, and talkgroup. Either incoming DMR time slot can trigger DA Store-and-Forward; CH Slot controls replay behavior rather than filtering the input slot.

Write and read back
Save the working file, write it, power-cycle, and read it back. Confirm the channel and key assignment before enabling the relay.



Confirm the delayed Store-and-Forward behavior

Enable the mode and listen first
Select the test channel, press the assigned Store-and-Forward action, and confirm the radio indicates the mode is active. Keep all three radios quiet long enough to confirm there is no loop or unintended keying.

Send one short source call
Transmit a short identification/test message from the source radio, then release PTT. Do not talk over other traffic.

Wait for the replay
While the source transmits, the relay should continue receiving. After the source releases PTT, the relay should key once and play the stored call.

Confirm destination and stop
Verify the destination heard one intelligible replay, then disable the mode with the assigned key. Confirm the relay does not key again.

Troubleshooting

Common questions
Is Store-and-Forward a live repeater?
No. It records a complete call and retransmits after the source stops.
Can DMR-6X2 repeat analog FM this way?
No supported analog FM workflow is documented for DMR-6X2 or DMR-6X2 PRO. Their Store-and-Forward procedure is digital. DA-7X2 firmware 1.05 adds model-specific analog FM and DMR delayed replay.
Can I leave it running unattended?
Do not assume unattended operation is permitted or safe. The operator remains responsible for station control, identification, frequencies, interference, and the applicable service rules.

Will there be any more firmware updates to the 6X2?
I’m also interested on if there will be further updates on the 6×2.
There are no outstanding bugs reported on the DMR-6X2, but it is still being supported and will be patched if any bugs are reported
Is there a Baofeng DMT radio Repeater mode that treats the two time slots as the two channels of a full blown repeater? That is, a Baofeng DMR-6X2 can be configured so that (for a single, Simplex frequency), TS1 is used as the “repeater” Tx channel and TS2 is used for the “repeater” Rx channel?. The audience all are configured to listen on TS1 and transmit on TS2 on the one Simplex frequency.

Got this to work per your instructions, but it will not work if Encryption is turned on. I have it set to encyption 2 with the same key between both radios. Thanks
